7.3 in 1996 F-150?

7.3 in 1996 F-150?
Looking at a wrecker but this title issue concerns me. I would need a Trooper inspection to tag it in Kansas since it is tagged in Nebraska. I am wondering if since it is obvious it is not a F-150 it will be a problem or if the Trooper is going to do the VIN check and leave it at that.
Could you even get a 7.3 in a F-150 in 1996?
