Help! 2008 F150 5.4 with error code P0022
My F150 started idling really rough and performance is substatially reduced during driving as well. I limped it in to Autozone to have the code checked.
P0022
Definition-
Variable cam timing over retarded-bank 2
Explanation-
The ECM has detected the VCT position in an over retarded condition-Camshaft timing retarded
Probable Cause-
Cam timing incorrect
VCT solenoid stuck open
How much does something like this cost to fix? Is it covered under warranty? Is it even safe to drive it to the mechanic?
I've only had this truck for about 5 weeks, and I am seriously questioning my purchase. Please help.
