Air Conditioner compressor

My 97 F-350 A/C compressor cycles on and off. If I put a jumper wire on the condenser the compressor stays on and seems to cool well. Can I just change the switch on the condenser do I have to change the condenser?

There is no switch on the A/C condenser. It sounds like you are referring to the low pressure/clutch cycling switch on the side of the accumulator.

Reference this:

The switch I am referring to is the one on the upper left.

To answer your question, no you cannot leave the switch jumpered. Your symptoms are most likely caused by a low charge in the A/C system or the switch itself may be bad. Typically when the switch fails the clutch never engages (open circuit).

Yeah, put some gauges on that thing and check your pressures. Bet it's low on refrigerant.
