HELP! new guy here, I have a 69 f100 3 speed tranny. I can't get it in to gear, my peddel stays on the floor and won't retract to its normal position. I looked at it and nothing seems abnormal like broken parts. any ideas?
Yes the spring is still there and yes I can return the fork, it well shift when engine is off. second question, how to tell a c4 from a c6 tranny? like i said i'm new at this.
Sounds like you need a new pressure plate, disk, and throw out bearing. The only thing that puzzels me is way the return spring itself won't bring the clutch fork back. How old is the pressure plate. I am still pointing my finger at that.
Check out this web page. You can see how to tell the two trannies apart. They are on the lower right corner of the page. The pan is the easiest way to see the difference.
You clutch could be in backwards.
Your pressure plate could be loose on your fly wheel. Check to see if the pressure plate is loose first.
Try to find anyplace that the linkage is binding up, or badlyworn/ broke. Lube everything up well. Take off the dust cover if you have one and look for problems.
well i looked again for broken parts and found that my pin(7a588 )was broke.my question now is, is this pin the reason my clucth is not wanting to engage, or does it just hold shifting arm linkage steady while shifting?
