I have a 1973 429, its got the d1ve-a2b block and the d2ve-aa heads, i know it's not the best out of the 429's but is it worth anything? i got it for free with my first truck and it runs and everything, should i sell it, trash it, or save it to put into my truck or a playtoy or something like that? advice would be appreciated because im very new to this whole mechanicing thing
The 429 is 1 of 3 385 series engines. I am confident you could sell it in a heartbeat even though it is not the 1970 or earlier. Personally I would hold on to it if you have any desire for a big block that sucks gas & hauls a$$. OR if I am closer than Jacks61ford I would also come and haul it away. I might not even charge you anything for doing it.
haha yeah, i just put a 302 in my 77 f100, so not gonna put another engine in anytime soon, but might in the future, so im thinking of modin' the Sh** out of it
o mod the crap out of my best friend it putting a 68 thunder jet in his 67 mustang we modded the crap out of just waiting for a little things to install then watch out pavement lol
for street dual plane is nice procomps are on flea bay like 1300 a pair not to horrible considering that the price for one trick flow lol then a nice big 600 lift cam not much of a idle but oh we'll lol
you gotta bear with me im not much of a mechanic , where can i get the cam, and would it be like pissing in the wind if i put the heads and intake on without swapping cams? and i ain't much worried about idling, cause my truck don't do much of that anyways
lol o you drive like me summit racing .com find a intake you like and buy the cam that matches and when it says valve spring required you won't to worry if u buy upgraded heads
I'd take the heads off and throw them in the trash. Those D2's are the worst heads you can have on a big block. Look around for a set of D3's they are a dime a dozen, then grind & polish the smog humps out of the exhaust ports.
