Does anyone know where the reverse light switch is on the 1973 F-100, 3spd, manual colum shift? My reverse lights stay on any time the truck is running regardless of gear shift position, including neutral. I would like to fix them to only come on in reverse or failing that on a lighted toggle.
It's at the end of the column under the hood. Just a push button switch that touches the shift arms coming out of the column.
Awesome Dave. Thank you sir. Based on the "we gots speaker wire and dollar general duct tape" school of electrical work my truck came with I bet I will find something neat. I will get it fixed come daylight. I did the draglink, inner and outer tie rod, and adjuster sleave, along with a new rearview today. I only get a few minutes a day to play with it. Coil springs, radius arm bushings, and king pins are next. Poor thing has been neglected.
Found switch corroded closed. Sprayed and cleaned, and got the plunger to move back and forth, but it seems like the contact is still stuck inside, lights stay on when its plugged in. I guess I will be getting a new one. Thanks again Dave.
