Hello
I removed these I beams from a 78 so I could put them on my 68 for the disc brakes after looking at them both are bowed but one more than the other I was wondering if this is normal?
just took some out i put a 4 foot level across the front of drivers side i beam holding it flat against it and at the bolt that holds the radious arm it was 3/8 of the level beam had a weierd bend in the middle. the drivers side measured 3/4 inch off of level, both had 10 or so degree bend up about 12 in back from ball joint how did you get the radious arm bolt out heat it beat it or does it unscrew? mines stuck.
actually I didnt have any trouble at all getting any bolts out passenger side radius arm nut was a little tight at first but as far as trouble getting bolts out I didnt have any
HIO silver how did you get the bolt that goes through the i beam and holds the radious arm on out doeas it unscrew or just beat it out mines in their! thanks.
if you decide its bent try and bend it back attach a chain on each side and a hydrolic bottle jack on the bend and pump it up the big thing is to keep it from twisting cut some wraps out of spring slide them over the i beam and hook the chain to them that would center the chain better maybe or drive a catterpiller on top of it and jack it up anyway looking at 4 of thies i beams and my two their all like pretzels.

No, don't beat on it... there are two big nuts that hold the RA to the I-beam - One nut holds the spring to the spring cup, and another nut is under the spring cup. .. something like 1-inch and 1.125-inch nuts. Yeah, it's alot of work..
