i have a 2011 f15 with 5.0 my friend bought a 2012 with the ecoboost . on my last road trip 525 miles hwy and city i averaged 24.4 miles . with hitting 26 for a 200 mile stretch on the way down . the ecoboost is only getting 19.2 average . i have 3500 miles on mine he has 2800.
While I find 24.4 is a little curious, IIRC the EB needs over 10k before most see better mpg's. This is just from what I've read here, maybe an EB owner will chime in. Whats your configuration? 2x4/4x4, gearing, cab?
I gotScourged about a year and a half ago for claiming an actual 21.7 mpg with my 2010 XLT Screw with a 4.6 engine. I don't think I wouldn't have the nerve to say my truck was averaging 24.4 mpg. <O</O
Is your 5.0 a single cab 2wd with 3.31 gears? 24.4 mixed driving is a bit of a stretch I think. I can average 24 in mine at 55mph on fairly level ground, but if you drove any city I think you would loose your average quick if it was a true mix of city/highway like you said.

Either that 24.4 mpg is 525 miles down a grade or you were being towed. lol
I have a bit over 2,000 miles and I only can muster 18 mpg combined.
it has the lower gear and it was at mainly 55 . but with the gas i sell at my store . when i buy gas in town i get around 21.5 on a average when i put mine in that has no ethonal it goes up .when new when filled it showed around 725 miles to a full tank after 3000 miles drove now when i fill up its shows 830+ on the last two tanks . also its usually less then a 1/4 gallon one way or the other of what it says i used .beats my f350 2000 v10 that got around 11 . whith the f150 super crew driving behind my friends mobile home it got 26 from park falls to sparta .the other guy i mentioned with the ecoboost . i pulled his boat behind my truck and got right at 20 he only gets 17+ . its my truck and i have a hard time believing it , would of been happy at 19 .
I just made a road trip to Maine and back from Long Island. On the trip up I got about 19.1 mpg but that included driving there on the highway and about a weeks worth of driving around Maine on the local backroads up and down hills. Coming home I reset my MPG on the dash and read 22.5 for the return trip. I use Fuelly now too and verified it with that site. In general I average 20 mpg driving around Long Island. I have a 2011 F-150 with 5.0 engine and super crew cab. I'm not a lead foot driver but I do average 65-70mph highway.
If its non-ethanol gas it IS a little more believable. There was a thread on here a few months back about the gains running non-ethanol fuel, but nobody around me carries it. Within an hours drive anyway.
i sell non ethanol .i usually fill up in town because its cheaper then using my own gas but when i do my milage go up at least 2 mph . only had the truck for 3 months so i'll know more later , but also 90pct+ of my driving is at 55 . im in a vacation area and the guys love it(gas i'm the only one that has it in the area) because of like the guy said chainsaws boats snowmobils etc . plus it has a shelf life . i fill my boat up whe i put it away for winter and have never had a problem starting it in the spring and thats the only thing i do to it and its a 1978 140 hp.
