For nearly a year I have seen the discussions back and forth about fuel efficiency without very much detail about driving style. I think that the average MPH you drive your truck might be the significant factor most are not accounting for? Everyone seems to list if they have a diesel or a gas burner and whether they are chipped but no one includes their average MPH.
If you divided the total miles on your truck into the total hours on your engine you get your average MPH.
I did it and got 41.4 in an unchipped diesel and I get about 14 MPG.
I’ll be curious to see if those of you with averages in the 50s or even 60s are the ones with 17+ MPG and the ones with averages in the 30s are the ones with lower MPG.
I absolutely see a correlation, and with how much weight is in the truck. My normal mileage - I don't have the exact numbers in front of me - are ~35MPH calculated with ~13.7MPG (12 miles to work over back roads) and approx 400# in the bed (toolbox, etc). When I was out west over Christmas, I emptied the truck and did some highway driving and got mid-19's for mileage. Sorry, didn't do several tanks, but it was stable enough to count for me.

Actually, maybe I'm showing my age, and growning up under the 55 mph speed limit, but I drive the speed limit (65-70 mph)...........
Fast enough for me........I still remember crawling across the country at 55 and 60.
My V10 truck has averaged about 10.7 over all types of driving for the past eight years. The usual highway stuff varies up to the mid-12's but the largest number of checks were in the high 11's. Highway stuff was usually about 70-80 mph, with a trip average of approx 61-65mph.
I've gotten as low as 7.1 avg for a tank during summer mud wheelin'.
