looking to upgrade my chip from a bully dog powerhound (stock, tow, 120hp) to a DP tuner so i can have more options for tunes. Can anybody tell me what the difference between the SMARTchip and the regular option is besides the extra $200? what are you guys who have the dp getting for mpg with the 80hp econo code? right now im getting 15.25 on the stock setting with my powerhound. theres no difference in mpg between tow and stock, unless im towing.
Thanks!
The biggest Obstacle you have regarding MPG"S is your 4:10 ratio....... I would spend my money on more fuel efficient tires and Gross Weight , ETC.......
I have the 3:55 and have 60 HP Tow tune and IDM mod ....free flowing exhaust....blah , blah blah....and have tired injectors .... The last thing that enters your mind when you stand on the pedal is fuel economy..... I get 12 mpg if I'm lucky since I drive 90% of the time in the city.... If I do steady HWY I get 16 maybe... But I am always Over 8k , and sometimes tow a 10 k Dump trailer the mileage is similar... Diesels are / were designed to run at constant rpm....I Really like the Torque .....can't wait to install my Stage ones....IIRC 1425 is the Tq. peak on the stock OBS.... For me , My sweet spot is 117 kph (70ish ) which is around 1850 with my 3:55, and on long trips I get like 16 mpg ......If I removed my ladders I would get 18 for sure....Thats my real world experience , of it anyway
