Evap system won't reset
Hello out there. I am not a professional mechanic but I consider myself pretty handy. I do almost all the work on my 1997 Expedition. It has a 5.4 liter V8. I recently had a check engine light on. I have the software and plug to link it to my laptop. I fixed the code issue. It was a P0171, turned out to be a PCV tube that was crack on both elbows. Simple right? I wish. Now the Evap system wont reset. I have the fuel tank at between 1/2 and 3/4 full. I drove down the road at exactly 65 mph for about 20 miles. 10 miles away, got off highway and then 10 miles back. I did my best to avoid hills and sharp turns. My gas cap is clean and relatively new. What next? I just want to register my car.

Drive it normally for a week and check it. The EVAP test will run in its own due course. Keep the tank between 1/4 and 3/4 full in the meantime.
FWIW, most locales permit one or two "Incomplete" monitors so you might be banging your head against the wall unnecessarily. Check with your local testing authority.
