No code is listed. Just purchased and Tried to have emmisions test done on vehicle. Test was "rejected" due to evap system. Have checked with auto xray scanner. When scan is done shows that evaporative system test "not completed".
Was told by guy I bought the truck from that battery had just been replaced. Battery is new. I know that when truck loses power it will have to be driven before all systems respond. Have now driven about 150 miles and when scanner is used still shows evap test to be not completed. Would be thankful for any help.
You have a simple "not ready" condition due to the recent battery replacement.
The EVAP monitor will run eventually in its own sweet time. My Contour, for example, finally ran after two months during winter a few years back. It is extremely difficult to get the right running conditions to launch the test during cold weather as one of the parameters is an ambient air temp above 50F.
Depending on your state, you may be able to pass even with one or two "not ready" monitors. Check with your state's governing authority (go to their website and read the criteria) to see is such an exemption exists and the tester was unaware of such an exemption.
Takie it to the local parts store and have it scanned when you finish to ensure all the monitors are set before going back for inspection, mine went about a month and a half before I found this and it took me a coule tries to get it right (try to find a big empty parking lot near an interstate on ramp, I used a huge local truck stops lot).
