Train horn mounting

So my on board air is installed and now it is time to install the train horns. I purchased these rather large beasts and have few options to mount.

1. Drop the spare tire and mount to the cross member, never being able to carry a spare in the factory location

2. Make a mounting bracket from a piece of "L" iron, drill the support rib in four spots on the bottom of the bed.

I know option 1 is the easy solution but, is there any draw back to drilling 4 3/8" holes in the bed support cross rib?

Most people mount them on the frame rail. There is plenty of room. No matter where you mount them, pitch them at a slight downward angle to prevent water puddles from forming in the horns.

I have this kit...
Hadley

Those horns were pretty big. I bolted a 48" length of uni-strut to the backside of the running board brackets to use as a stringer. I then bolted two angle clips to the outside of the frame using existing holes. I then cut two short lengths of unistrut to span the distance from the stringer to the frame. That created a landing to mount the horns nicely. I will try and snap some pics in the morning...

Can you get a video clip? I am always looking at horns. I really dont want train horns. I drive a truck. Not a train.

Initially I was not able to see the forest for the trees, the horns were mounted to a bracket and pre-plumbed.

Once I took the bracket off and removed the hose, I am able to mount them to the out side of the frame rail on the drivers side, not optimal due to the fuel tank but, the air tank and compressor is on the passenger side.
