Ok, I always have to laugh when I hear people talk about their "small town" that they live in. What do you consider small? The town I grew up in and consider myself part of has a population of maybe 120 people. The closest communities that are large to me are about 20+ miles away and have populations of 4,000+. I guess when our entire state only has about 750,000 people in it, towns aren't as big. I just always laugh when I hear somebody talk about growing up in a small town of about 30,000, and I believe in another post on here somebody said they're small town only had about 100,000 people!! So let's see how many people actually live out in the middle of no-man-land like I do
Went from Chicago <millions of people> to a town of around 3500. Only had two stoplights HAHAHA now that was a change! Now im in a town with around 80000, happy middle for me.
A small town of about 100 people, but less than 20 miles from the capital of the state, with all of 20,000 people. None of the schools I went to there in the consolodated system had more than 500 students. When I moved to FL, the high school I went to had a graduating class of 600! Talk about culture shock. Then back to the extreme northeast, and another few years in the large city of 20,000, before heading to Phoenix. Currently in a small city of 22,000. From one extreme to the other, but I would like to settle down in a nice mountain town.
According to the city's home page, there are 17,000 people in my town. It used to be a small town, but everyone is moving out of Baltimore, and moving up here. I don't think there are going to be any more farms here in 20 years.
Grew up in a town of about 400. Moved to a town of about 3000. Then moved to St. Paul MN (not sure, but alot). Now live in a town of about 8000. One year in the city was to much for me.
I live 5 miles outside the county town, that has 1,700 residents. Prior to living in TN, I lived 12 miles away from the county town that had a population of 400.
I live in a town of less than 300 hardy souls... it covers about a square mile, according to the map on the wall at the city hall/volunteer fire station. No stoplights, one flashing yellow light on the southern edge of town where the speed limit changes. Inside of the city limits are pastures where horses and cattle graze, and fields where beans and corn are planted. It has one convenience store that has a car wash and laundromat attached, a beauty shop that operates out of one half of a garage, a welding shop/auto repair garage, and a post office that has had the same postmaster for more than 20 years. The county seat is about 9 miles northeast, and it has a population of around 6,000.
