I'm ready to start modifying my suspension and got my notes out to place orders for parts and I've hit a snag. It looks like I may have written something incorrectly. In my notes I have "V/Modified F Codes, Icon 3" Hanger Lift". Apparently, this is what I had finalized after researching FTE posts. Now, when I search for "Modified F Codes" I get returns for "Modified B Codes". Have I made a mistake and should I be looking for "Modified B Codes?"
All I'm wanting to do is find the OE part numbers so I can order up. I had initially intended on a Donahoe kit complete with Deaver [sp?] springs, but they seem to have gone belly up. Does anyone have any last minute warnings or suggestions before I go with the OE springs + hanger combo?
I've only read about modified B's. Don't forget about new U-bolts (and nuts). Ford recommends new ones. I'd check Tousley Ford for parts. You can search by make/model. Tousley Ford Parts Depot
Not sure about the hangers, but the V/B part numbers are:
Front V code springs: 2C3Z-5310-HA
Front axle U-bolts : F81Z*5705*ZA (stock X; semi-round; worked with new V code springs)
Rear B code springs: Part #3C3Z-5560-CB
Rear U-bolts: bought from Tousley for 2004 F-350 (rear). Worked great.
No, my avatar and sig pics are BEFORE the swap. I need to take a new one. See post #78 in the thread below for my before and after pics. I gained about 2" all the way around over stock height. I found this thread to be extremely helpful in my swap.
Modifying the F-codes is the same process as the B-codes. In 2005 they came out with the F-codes springs with the new suspension design on the F250/F350. There is a slight spring rate difference between the two but most likely not noticeable.
If you are going to add the 3" icon hangers to the front you may also want to get the larger F350 4" block for the rears on top of the moded F-code springs. This will most likely get you the proper rake.
The pic in my avatar is with the V-code front and moded B-rear. I also have larger images in my profile garage. I did the B's because it has been proven by many but if I had found a good used set of F-codes with low mileage those may have been on my truck instead.
Also, what are your intentions for the truck, towing or just driving around?
