Go to the parts store and rent the fan clutch wrench set. Remove the top radiator shroud. Un-thread the fan assembly from the water pump. Unbolt the clutch from the fan. Wrench size is 47mm and thread rotation is counter clockwise.

Install in reverse order.

Autozone uses a crappy set, try another store like Orileys or the like. The Autozone ones have a loose fit with makes for hard wrenching.

If you follow this link it will take you to the section in my waterpump video where I take off the fan.

I'm sure this will get blasted, but I used an air chisel to remove mine, also, the shroud and fan will need to be removed together

Same here. Doesn't take much either....they have always popped right off quite easily with the air chisel method.

If you haen't got an air chisel then get the loaner tools.

I get two kits from Auto Zone because one has the best fan nut wrench and the other the best fan pulley holding wrench.

They rent the wrenches separately? They just handed me a box with 6 wrenchs in it.

Yeah. Depends on how swift the person behind the counter is. Our local AZ has some real winners...

I applied there (and turned down an interview) and was surprised how extensive their applications are. They make you take a mechanical aptitude test. Granted its not engineer level stuff, it still surprised me.

I worked at an Autozone store for 2 years in college, I applied to be a driver but they said they wanted me on the parts counter. We had about 3 guys who knew their stuff and the rest was whoever they could find. The one kid could never understand why there was a line of people waiting to talk to me but nobody wanted to talk to him.

If you think the people behind the counter are dumb you should see some of the people who walk through the door! We would get people all the time who would buy spark plugs, put them in, then their problem wasn't fixed so they would return them.
