hey guys put on new autometer boost meter is showing only 10 psi 2000 rpms. ive checked/cleaned the boots going into the ic just felt arounf on the boots coming out of the ic and dont feel any rips or holes.
looking for help on hhow to check ic for leaks. with programmer i thought i would be getting 22+psi my son watched it when i stomped it and said i got it to peak at 20 but it didnt stay there it would slowly drop to about 10 and lower even at cruisin speed with rpms at 2000/1800 it only says 5-6 psi. i know im losing it somewere.?.
btw already checked the lines to the gauge no leak for all that i can hear or feel
Driving around 5-6 pounds is about normal. Boost is the measurement of pressure built up "waiting" to be forced into the engine. In other words, unless you are able to put a pretty big load and keep the load on the motor you won't see super high boost numbers. A run from 60mph+ is a good test IMO, because it keeps you "in it"
Never hurts to check for leaks though. I tapped a PVC cap, with a schrader valve, that is inserted into the intake tube to pressurize(no more than 30psi) the system, and check the system with soapy water.
