Tires; Need Opinions on my finalists.

I am looking at getting new tires here soon and would like peoples opinions and experiences with the following tires. I have narrowed it down to these tires, all of which would be in the size 315/75/16.

Compelling arguments for variations from this list will be considered.
  • BFG All Terrain
    • Pros: I have these now, only in a smaller size. They have always worked for me. Cheapest tire of the lot.
    • Cons: I am bored of the tread. Everyone has this tread, and I would like to try something a little more aggressive.
  • BFG Mud Terrain KM2
    • Pros: Brand I trust.
    • Cons: Dont love the tread design, but more than the A/T.
  • Hankook DynaPro MT
    • Pros: Mid-Price range
    • Cons: No experience with this brand.
  • Nitto Trail Grappler M/T
    • Pros: My favorite tread of the lot.
    • Cons: Most expensive tire.

I really like how the trail grapplers look, and have heard they wear pretty nicely and are also good offroad. Not sure about snow... but you dont really have to worry about that. I like cooper STTs though because they are made in the usa

I'd go with the Trail Grapplers. The tread pattern is similar to the Toyo M/T's I had on my 2000 and they were a great tire. Mileage/road manners were phenomenal, sucked in snow/ice but made driving fun and would go anywhere.

I'll never own BFG's again, myself and my brother in law seem to have had bad luck with them in the past.

Aggressive tread is really noisy on the road. If you'r going for aggressive, I'd just read reviews on road noise. I buy tires for wear, snow handling, and noise - in that order.

the nitto's look way better than the others on the list. they have a high load rating, and seem to be well liked by those that have tried them. i am going with trail grapplers as soon as my current tires wear out.

hope this helps! lol

BFG M/T2 will get you about 30K miles. Some get more, some get less.

Too expensive if a tire for such a short service life.

They do have their place, and street driving isn't their strong point.

I've had many sets of BFG A/Ts. I always get 50K plus out of them. But the last 2 sets have been very hard to balance. Quality control seems to have slipped quite a bit.

The bfg km's if I recall don't come in a e range tire so load range will suffer. I'm in your boat and have had good luck with bfg at tires. They are just boring to look at. I'm leaning towards the goodyear silent armors, some michelins or the bfg at's. I think all 3 will give me decent milage and are decent all around tires. For me it will come down to price and rebates off purchase.

My vote goes to the Nitto Trail Grappler M/T....best tire that I have ever owned. I am on my second set and I drive off road every day to make a living. I have the truck loaded every day. The tires hold up great, road behavior is excellent and they are good when towing as well...

Hope that this is helpful

I had bfg all terrains and they where terrible, didnt last long and wore unevenly, had to constantly rotate them. I have nitto trail grapplers now and they are awesome, wear good and evenly as far as an MT goes, i barely rotate them. From my measurements with a tread depth gauge they will last at least 45k, better than any MT ive ever had.
They arent to loud on the highway either.

I regularly tow heavy with them, about 10k

The Nitto Trail Grappler M/T seem to be winning. I am still following so if anyone else has an opinion post them up. I will probably make the decision in the next few days.

Are you shopping based on performance or how the tread pattern looks?
