Ford Brake controller

well i found out the hard way that if your brakes are out of adjustment the controoler will show a fault.

I'm not aware that the TBC was put into any truck that didn't already have 4 wheel disk brakes. I'm also not aware of any disk brakes that need adjusting.

Maybe I'm missing something.

Sorry about that. I meant the trailer brakes. Mine were out of adjust and i keept getting trailer fault.

so you are saying that if the TBC detects an out of adjustment trailer brake it will show a fault?

What was the message?

Nah, I don't think so. All the controller does is check continuity through the magnets. It doesn't know anything about brake shoe adjustment. I suspect that in adjusting the brakes you also managed to wiggle a poor electrical connection. Which means it is likely to come back.

But I could be wrong.

The trailer shop that adjusted the brakes told me that is has something to do with the resistance. I put over 1500 miles on and no more problems.

This is correct. That's what I said about checking continuity through the magnets. But adjusting them had nothing to do with the repair. They checked and repaired your connections, which is part of any good brake service.
