trailer hitch wiring?
Hello, I just bought a 2000 Explorer, and was wondering how to hook it up for trailer lights. Looking around underneath, i found what looks to be 2 plugs. One is on the left sidewheel well, the other on the right side wheel well. Do I use both of these to hook up lights? Please excuse my ignorance, I'm a first time truck buyer.

If you unscrew the driver's side rear taillight, you will see a grey plug there. You can buy the adapter that plugs into there, or you can just tap into the wires that attach to the plug. I have done it both ways and either works fine.

Splasman, thanks! I was getting frustrated after conflicting info from Ford service guys, U-HAUL hitch, and checker auto parts. ALL were WRONG! YOU were RIGHT!
I had a private hitch guy take a look and he gave me the right harness for $15.00 and it took only 30 seconds!
