Fuel problems
I have an 84 F-250 with a 460 and dual tanks. Someone worked on it before me and it has a fuel pump between the saddle tank and the frame rail. I have been told that this is an add on fuel pump. I dropped the saddle tank and replaced the pump, the line from the saddle tank ran through the frame rail pump. I turned the key on and could hear a ticking which I assume was the fuel pump, I got fuel at the carb. It ran for a while then I tried to drive it but it stalled and I had to tow it back with the ranch tractor. I then bypassed the frame pump and the fuel tank selector valve on the frame rail and now I cant get fuel to the carb.
I'm stumped does anyone have any diagrams as to the fuel lines, pumps and selector valve? I do want to use both tanks and know I need the fuel tank selector valve on the frame rail but I do not know what lines go where and may need to replace the frame mounted fuel tank selector valve, I do not know if its good or not. I dont mind re doing all the lines, pumps and the valve. Its just since someone got to it before me a lot of stuff was disconnected so I dont know what goes where. I replaced the fuel relay already and my hanes manual is dang near worthless.
Thanks Rich

I have a 1986 fuel system wiring diagram, I *think* it applies to 1984 but I wouldn't bet my life on it.
I will have to find a place to upload it (I'm thinking Google Docs or some such) as my 'net connection is too slow for FTE's software, it times out before the entire thing gets uploaded. It's 20MB in size.
IIRC those 460 fuel tank senders with the attached pumps are pretty difficult to find and, when found, cost a couple hundred bucks. This is probably why you have the ******-rigged system you have, a PO was too cheap to do it right.
The factory units are expensive but they last FAR longer than the aftermarket things.
I'll try to dedicate some time to this tomorrow.

Thanks to all who replied. I am mostly looking for the hose and associated component diagrams. So does this thing have a stock frame rail mounted pump as well as the 2 in the tanks and the dual frame mounted switch that has the 6 ports? The frame mounted pump only has 1 in and 1 out nipple on it for hoses.
I am anxious to get this thing running as I will be able to use it and the car hauler that goes with it when I need it. It will come in handy for moving big pieces of my crew cab to paint and powder coat plus I need a 94-98 2 wd dodge with a cummins and 5 speed man for the crew cab. I also need the back half of a 78 79 Bronco and a section with the small rear window of a supercab to fill the gap. This truck and trailer will allow me to buy stuff that aint running for projects. Here is what I am building [IMG][/IMG]
Anyone can fax me at (805) 649-1689 the phone is for fax only and should only ring once

That's a Centurion conversion, Ford never built or sold anything like that.
Seems Google Drive requires using a special app to upload things and this app is available for Linux, I'll find some other sharing place for the wiring stuff. Maybe later tonight or tomorrow.
As for the plumbing, I think this is the best the parts catalog can offer....

OK, I am not gonna upload this file because it's already on the 'net, just not here on FTE. It is 8 pages from the 1986 EVTM and shows the fuel pump stuff.
It's on Bill Vose's (85lebaront2's) personal web site and can be gotten from there:

To be honest, I;, not sure how much it will help, though. According to the parts catalog, a stock 1984 truck had mechanical fuel pumps and not electric ones in the tanks. The sending units ID'd with 9275 tell me this.
But this is a Centurion conversion truck, and I have no idea what they did....
