Someone please inform me if this rumor is true? I understand from somewhere that they will no longer be building the Ford Ranger Pickup, so what is the last year they are available, I'm guessing Dodge did the same thing with the Dakota & Chevy GM with the Colorado, is that true also? Any input will be appreciated. Thanks Johnny
Don't know how true this is, but a guy was in the shop the other day, said they were going to drop the ranger for one year, then come back out with it. The new ones will be like the first ranges, small with smaller and different engines.. Said they were getting too far into the F-150 class, I hope he's right.
They have a Ranger version that is sold elsewhere. Lots of speculation on Ford bringing that here. Key word: Speculation. I'll believe it when I see it on the dealer lot.

Yeah, here in Europe a new ranger just came out, its not a ranger in my eyes, not even a Ford. its a Mazda with lazy diesel engine. I don't hate it, but its wrong to sell it as a ranger when it isn't one. doesn't even look like one, same story with the older ones over here, all Mazda with Ford badges.
I got myself a real Ranger not too long ago, really wish they would keep making them.
Yes, Virginia, Ford ended production of the Ranger when the last one rolled off the assembly line in Minneapolis/Saint Paul.
Too bad. Lots of us like the Ranger, but Ford says we don't buy enough of them. (Maybe that's because they hold up so well and many of us take good care of ours.
Yes, the Ranger, which was the most popular light pickup for 20+ years has ceased production. The last Ranger rolled off the assembly line before XMAS 2011, and it was widely publicized. Orkin bought the last one, and I think that the Twin Cities plant was even torn down. There has been speculation, but only speculation that Ford may be bringing the vehicle back. However, I'm not holding my breath. On other forums, I'm known as fifthranger because I currently drive my fifth Ranger. I think that the vehicle is great, and individuals benefit by properly maintaining their vehicle by not beating on it. Good manufacturing also helps because drivers are likely to keep their vehicles longer if the repairs are minimal. Ford did not do a great job changing the styling with the Ranger, and no wonder production numbers gradually declined. By the last couple years, production was around 35,000 units vs. the 400,000 when first introduced in the mid-80's.
on the last day of last year, i stopped at the ford dealer by my house and they had a bright red 2011 ranger xlt that was loaded with all the accessories you could put on a truck. it is the extended cab with the rear doors that open. the price was 24,500. i traded in my 2007 mazda with 18,000 miles on it. i only drove the mazda when i went on a trip. i paid about 9,000 for the mazda new. they gave me 10,000 for it and i kept my red matching camper sheel and radio. out the door the price was 14,500. and i was very happy with the deal. i have less then 700 miles on it now. sorry for the long story but, i have a 86 ranger with over 300,000 miles on the factory bottom end on the engine. no brainer why they stopped making the ranger because it is a great little truck. hope my new ranger last this long.
So the Ranger goes away. I had heard that was going to happen. So what happens to the Explorer Sport Trac which is essentially a Ranger SuperCrew with the Explorer badges? The Explorer itself I think got a pretty radical makeover but I would think the popularity and versatility of the Sport Trac would have spared it. I thought the margins were pretty good on that because they could get more for it as an Explorer than a extended Ranger. Just curious?
Did not realize they had done that. Since it was an Explorer and not a truck, I didn't really keep up with it. Liked the concept but thought it could look more like a truck than an SUV.
