got a '05 e450 with the v10, was planning on putting dual exhaust on it (by cutting the y pipe & running another pipe/muffler etc) my question ; is there any (or much) gain, or just more work for the sake of having duals? ( I'm old-school, always liked duals)....it's on my "conversion"...J...
Not an exhaust expert but you have issues with just cutting the Y pipe as it is before the CAT. You will probably have to add another cat as well. You will also have to make provisions for the O2 sensors. After all that, you probably won't be happy with how it sounds as the V10s never sound like a throaty V8.
IF you are towing all the time and running at high RPM's, then duals are great. Duals are also louder in the cab. A single 3" pipe and muffler of your choice is the best.
WOW, just the advice I wanted, thanks. too much work for little gain. (but now I gotta craw under & look again--I don't remember any o2 aft the "y"...(& thought about no cat-either side).....J...
If you want to to have the dual look go with a single in/dual out muffler. I'll bet money you never notice the difference in power. You will probably make more low end torque with the si/do setup than true duals.
