battery won't charge

You could simply install a voltmeter instead of fooling with a GEN light if not concerned about stock appearance.

I can't see the pics, but I'm glad to hear you got it set up. It should be about 13.2-13.4 volts or something like that when its running. no matter what, there is less voltage when the truck is off than when its on. Just use a voltmeter on the battery terminals, but it sounds like its charging.
