Power Locks

IHey all-

I have a 90 F150 XLT Lariat. The drivers door power lock has stopped working. Passenger side works fine. The door lock works a little hard, but does work manually. I don't seem to hear any clicking form the solenoid. Is it possible that my driver's side solenoid is bad? If os, where is it and how much of a pain is to change? I am getting ready to replace the door speakers so I thought this was a good time to try and fix this problem. Also, is there anything in there that should be lubed? (may make the actual lock work easier). Thanks in advance for the help.

Mike

Power Locks

They are actually motors not solenoids. It has a rotating armature that screws a shaft in and out for lock and unlocking the door. Yes it is possible that it is bad. It is also possible that there is to much resistance for it to operate the lock. When you get the door panel off see if you can free up the lock mechanism. I believe that the lock actuator is held by either one rivet or one bolt on the door jamb. It's not difficult to remove.
