Jackrabbit check the post about trailer light trouble from earlier today. They talk about a couple of hidden fuse boxes in the engine compartment. Not what year you're working with but I don't see either box on my 01 scab, but I didn't look real hard as I'm not having any issues.

O sory...:\
I have a 1997 f-150 5.4 L
Yeah I read that this morning. Glad I found that thread to because i could not figure out what that box was. but now I know its for the tow kit my truck has on the back incase I hook up a boat or something. I knew it would not make any diffrence but just for giggles I cleaned inside the conecter for the boat hook up and checked all the resisters in that box

weard that that bo is not in the owners manul but none the less i alredy trouble shot that and its not the problum or so it seams anyway i still wish i had a diagram on that box id like to know what amps the relays are. but I dont think it will solve my problum. =( very unfortunate

any other idias?

Sounds like the main trouble is in the blinker circuit. Did you check the turn signal relay in the inside fuse panel. Not sure which one to tell you it is since their not round anymore and I don't have my owners manual handy. The outside lamp over the cab is probably just a bulb, since its on the opposite side from the rest of the issues. Other than that possibly the wrong bulbs (make sure you have double filament for the brake/signal. Swap the bulbs from the passenger side to the driver side and see if the problem remains.

Turn signal relay in the inside fuse panel would be for both turn signals left and right am I right?

Would'nt that pritty much rule out the relay being bad? Sence the other side works fine?
Would'nt that also rule out the turn signal switch?

I do have the user owners manual handy and most of the info strarts on page 140.
I have been stareing at three pages for 3 days go figure!

double checked all the fuses!
as for relays I dont realy see how I could test them? besides its not like i can switch them around when thare diffrent amps.

the only store around is advanced discount auto parts and pritty much everyone i have asked for help has been mind bogled we just cant figure out whats wrong very odd indeed

even odder i asked a guy for help that works in wallmart automotive and he says to me hay gess what i have a 97 ford expedition and im haveing the same problum im like OMG!

Im not sure what Double filament meens but the bulbs I bought are same as last time i had a bulb go out on me about 4 years ago.

thay are SYLVANIA LONG LIVE 3157 LL.

PS:You can download the owners manual hear if you like...

Yes that relay would be for both signals, however its a four prong relay. two for the left and two for the right. depending on the MFS position or hazard switch the circuit would either be open or closed. downloading manual now.

Check the contact points in the socket, you may have to pull them in a bit to make sure you're getting a good connection on the bulb contacts. I know its a whole different animal but I use to own a Chevy that had the same issue and that was the problem
