AC CLUTCH PROBLEM

OKay here's the problem had a freon leak for a while now , put a can in it once a month . Now it cools just fine but I have had a funny noise comming from the compressor when it engages . Friday AC quit altogether and I noticed that clutch was not engaging so I checked the fuse , it was blown . So put in new fuse and AC worked for few minutes then blew again and keeps blowing fuses . So ??? Is is this a compressor thing or a clutch issue ? Or some kind of a electrical issue ?Oh and it's the truck in sig , thanks for the help.

Could be anything from a bad (shorted) coil on the clutch to a chafed wiring harness somewhere in the truck.

Unplug the compressor clutch connector and see if the fuse still blows when the AC controls are set to any of the AC positions. If it doesn't blow, then you know the problem is in the compressor clutch.

Since you've also had a leak, you'd do well to identify its source. If it happens to be the compressor shaft seal, the decision to replace the whole compressor is easy as it should solve both problems.

projectSHO89 thank you for the info . But have new problem now the compressor locked today and shut my truck down . Would have never imagined that a locked up compressor could do that . First thought BATTs were down wouldn't turn over in the morning , jumped it off it spun normal . Drove it 10 miles was idling down back road and it shut down . Tried to jump it and spun slow, went to wally world bought new BATTs and same thing . Then had to have it towed home . Got it in garage took off belt and it spins normal and tried to spin AC comp by hand and no spin .

Probably a failed pulley bearing. Bean there, done that, got the ride home on the flatbed.
