I bought a cheap little air horn the other day for the truck. I don't know if the previous owner of the truck removed the original horn or what but I can't find a horn anywhere on the truck lol. Anyway, can someone tell me which wire I can tap into for the new horn to work with the original horn switch? The truck is a 1987 lariat with cruise control. I can see that the wiring is mangled up with the cruise control wiring someway but thats as far as I can go. When I push the horn switch there's a clicking noise underneath the dash. Any help appreciated.
The clicking you hear when the horn button is pressed id the horn relay, so the wiring is good from the button to the relay. The horns are located under the drivers side headlight, between the grill and the radiator support. They can be reached from below.
oh ok, so thats were the horn is. I looked all over for that thing but its obvious now lol. I have a relay to use for the new horn but I need to know which wire to use on the relay for the stock switch to work. I guess the wire going from switch to the original relay (i don't know where that is).
Yeah, It tends to hide. When I got my truck, only one horn barely worked. I had two separate horns laying around. One was pulled of a junked Mitsubishi. The other came off an Expedition. They just so happened to harmonize so I put them one my truck. I did however move the horns to the right fender, right next to the glow plug relay. They aren't very loud. They are louder when I touch the wire to the pos terminal of the battery.
