Accidentally shifted 99 Expedition into reverse while driving about 50 mph. Shifted into neutral and the tires locked up and power steering went out and it died. It will start now, and run, but only if you are pushing the gas. It won't idle. It also sounds like it is missing. Things are clanking and rattling.
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction on how to fix this problem.
It sounds like you've done some major damage. I don't think we're going to be able to tell you much more than you need a new engine, tranny, or transfer case.
Sorry for what happend but well need more info then Clanking and rattling to go forward but i do also thing the engine sufferd a serious blow from shifting into reverse at high speed, no telling how high the RPM went when it happend, is there a check engine light?
also if it's serious i would just part it out then buy another one there not that expensive
