I need to ship a LARGE package. HELP!!
Hi there,
I'm trying to get a windsurfer shipped from Dallas Texas to Columbus Ohio, and the prices I'm getting are a little out of hand.
I mean...I've had engines shipped for less than some of these quotes!
Anybody know of a shipping company that can handle a 12' windsurfer without trying to rob me blind?
Any help would be great!
Thanks.

Call around and get quotes. There are literally hundreds of freight lines, especially in Dallas, which is a major freight hub.
You might try finding a small trucking company that will actually compete for your business. If you talk to a sales rep from a small company he may be able to get you a more reasonable rate.
Also, if you work for a company that has a shipping department, they likely have preferred freight lines that offer them substantial percentage discounts, and you can usually grease the shipping clerk and have him ship it out using your company's discount.
Good Luck!

You might want to check out http://www.freightquote.com/ . I use it at work for all of our LTL common carrier needs. They send the quote out to a bunch of companies. Ive saved the company more than a few dollars (gotta get on the boss's goodside somehow).
