Does anyone have the spec handy? My book is at home, and I was heading to the machine shop this morning.
Thanks very much for the help.

one last thing, the set I removed had a 'welch plug' capping the bottom, but the kit I ordered didnt come with them.
Are the plugs available anywhere?

Thanks again

I don't see any spec in either the section on steering components or in the back Spec section, not even any guidance. The welch plug looks to be used only on the larger trucks.

I think the machine shop will know what to do as long as you bring in your new parts for them to measure.

Once upon a time long long ago we had this same discussion about the sizing of the King Pin Bushings - It went back and forth for days and I remember finding the size of the reamer
When I made my statement above it was as clear as could be about the location being in the install section and I fudged the spec section just to be sure - I looked this morning a NOTHING - There is a Ford Part Number in the special tools section for the reamer if anyone can figure that out
Sorry about that.

Few shops have the special Ford reamer, they mostly use an adjustable reamer or a Sunnen adjustable hone. I agree, anyone you want doing the job should know the correct fit from experience, it is too hard to measure accurately anyway. Very good point, they need the new kingpins to do the job.

Just picked up the spindles. They used a 7/8 reamer. They are a little more than push out with a thumb, but seem good.

Here's where I've seen info: FORD Truck 1953 1959 King Pin .859" (55/64") Reamer! | eBay

AFAIK 48-56 are all the same, don't know if that eBay piece is the right one for Bonus Built's.

I plan on installing disc brakes on the front axle . I understand that I need to move one or both of the grease serts ? Does any one know where I need to move them to?

In Classic Truck magazine they moved them in line right behind the spindle. they drilled then tapped them, then greased them to push the filing's out then installed the zerk. On mine I put a 90 deg in the top and a staight one in the bottom, I have a U-joint attachment for my grease gun and I can get at mine.

So, I've removed my old king pins and bought a new king pin kit for my 1950 F3. I want to install my bushings and ream them to fit the new king pins which measure 0.8125" (13/16") diameter.

I've read this thread a few times now and I can't figure out what the inside diameter (ID) of my bushings should be for the correct fit. I saw an expandable hand reamer on ebay, 13/16" expandable to maximum 0.008" past that. I think this expandable range would leave me with plenty of room to fit my new king pins correctly, I don't know for sure. Can anyone tell me what ID measurement my king pin bushings should be to achieve the correct fit with no slop?

It will be a couple thou larger than the kingpin. Make sure the reamer is long enough to ream both bushings at once, or you'll defeat the purpose. Or take it to a shop.
