E4OD question

Just a quick auto tranny question, will a tranny out of a pre-stroke truck work in our rigs or does it HAVE to be from behind a powerstroke motor? Thanks

If it came from a 7.3 it will work but you'll have to use a PSD TQ. The PSD TQ has 6 studs and the IDI had 4 studs I think

IIRC the E40D from the PSD was built a little stronger with some upgraded parts. But I could be wrong on that

You are correct. 95 and up had many updates.

It will have to built anyway, I was just uncertain if the electronics were the same or not and if it would bolt up, and at least now I know it will bolt up

A different solenoid pack was used in the IDI and powerstroke trans.

If you want to drive to southwestern Indiana, you can have my old E4OD, since you'll be needing to rebuild one anyway. You might as well have one out of a Powerstroke.

I have an E4OD that I just pulled out of my '97 with 6k miles on it since it was rebuilt, in Central Virginia if you're interested. Put a 5 speed in the truck, only reason I'm selling it. It's on a pallet, will set it on your truck for $1000. New TQ and everything associated with an automatic.
