Hardwired keyless keypad not working?

I just bought an '08 F350 Super Duty CC. When I bought it, the previous owner gave a me card with the code on it. So I tried to reprogram the keyless keypad to a new code that I can remember, no luck at all. Followed all the steps on how to reprogram it like a hundred times and still won't reprogram. So I've noticed that none of the lights light up except 7*8, none of the other buttons won't light up. Could the keyless keypad be going south? Maybe the contacts in the keyless keypad are gummed up or a relay? Please help me to get this feature to work cause I sure would use it a lot. Also how do I remove the interior door trim to get to the keyless keypad? The door panel has electric locks, electric window, power mirrors, telescoping rear view mirrors, memory seating buttons and speaker pillar. Thanks for any advice or solutions in advanced, thank you!

If I'm not mistaken, I dont think they are hard wired. I think they are battery powered RF devices, just like the key FOB. Someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong, maybe what I was was some kind of aftermarket version if they are hardwired.

I believe there are both kinds, hard wired & the wireless ones Ford had as an add on. Can you post a pic of it? I can tell you which one you have that way. Also, you don't need to remove the inside door panel to replace it(wired version). You just carefully take a thin blade screwdriver to pry it out on either side. Make sure you place a rag behind that screwdriver.

^^^^This. There were two versions available. The first is the first pic below which was / is available as an aftermarket add-on through Ford's Accessories division for trucks not equipped with the keypad from the factory:

They have batteries contained within them and operate via RF signal. They are easily recognizable due to the fact that they are relatively "thick" and stick out from the side of the door about a half an inch.

The factory installed model is pictured below. It's hardwired to the vehicle's systems and doesn't require batteries as it is hardwired.

This one sits almost flush with the side of the truck and as such, is easily recognizable also.

That said, if only one of your buttons is lighting up, I'd say there is a problem with the keypad itself.

They are on eBay and not super expensive:

08 Ford F-250 Super Duty KING RANCH door lock Keypad touch pad keyless entry | eBay

04 FORD F250 SUPER DUTY LEFT FRONT KEYLESS ENTRY KEY PAD | eBay

OEM 4-11 Ford Super Duty Keyless Entry Touch Pad Keypad | eBay

07 FORD F350 SUPER DUTY LEFT DOOR KEY PAD | eBay

According to the order guide model info, the keyless keypad was standard on the FX-4 and Lariat trim levels and optional on the XLT as part of the Advanced Security Group (which was standard on the Lariat and FX-4). Assuming your truck is a Lariat or FX-4, that should be the integrated keypad in the bottom photo. If it's the XLT, it could be the add-on version or the integrated one.

I have a hard wired one, how do you go about replacing it? Don't you have to remove the interior door panel to gain access to it? Please help, thanks!

As I already stated, no you do not have to pull the interior door panel off.

Glad you got it fixed and thanks for posting back here with the resolution.

Very few folks come back after they get a problem solved to let us know what was wrong.

No, it gets its power from the vehicle via the security module.
