Alternator question

my battery gauge is reading between the OR in normal while driving regularly, which seems to be a little low. other trucks i have had are usually over the M. when i turn my a.c. on it will read over the N which seems way to low. is this a sign of my alternator on its way out?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

You should not compare the reading to other trucks. Just this ones passed history.
You need to get a volt meter (DVM) and check the battery voltage while it is running. If that is OK check and make a note of where the dash gauge points to too.

And in case you don't know normal voltage readings at the battery are 12.5 volts engine off and 13.5-14v engine running, if you only get 12.5v or less for both the alternator is a prime suspect.
