i know this question has probably been asked about a million times but i need help. tore apart the engine on my 7.3 to change head gaskets and i decided while i was at it and since it was easy to access i was going to turn up my fuel pump, but i cant.. i remove the triangle trap dfoor and i see part of the hole in the piston thats suppose to contain the allen screw but i cant get the cylinder to come forward to get access to the screw. i have tried cranking the engine a bunch but it never moves just a whole lot of fuel pours out. help please, thank you!
ya know i had a guy from the peterbuilt shop here in town tell me that one of the ways he had timed these ol motors because of people takin them off and not knowing how to put them back on is to take an air compressor and blow it into your number one line and it will have tension on it when you turn the pump and also put your motor at tdc of #1 and it would start right up i done it once and dont ever plan to do it again because i found it to be a pain in my *** tryin to keep the pump from movin when you get it back on
not a bad idea at all for timing these but it still scares me to mess with it, i finally got her running good and its a daily driver so if i screw it up im sol
