I am acquiring a RUST FREE 92 F250 XLT extra cab long bed 4X4 less the motor, front seats, and tailgate. I'm thinking about loading it on a trailer and driving to the mid-west ... some place and parting it out ...YES I will have a clear title in hand. No crashes, just dings and scrapes the cab has a sun/moon roof that needs work and the automatic trans is not working. Any body got any input on where the best area to drag it to ??? It will be an all or part sale. I really don't want to drag it around , but I have no way to ship large parts from here ... PM or E-mail me if you want .... Thanks for any suggestions for the best location!!! Dave
I'd figure it would probably help to know where you're starting out from...if you are in NE, you should not have to travel far to sell it!
Roger
I'm starting from Pahrump NV., about 60 mi. west of Las Vegas NV. I would really have some one pick it up here... I could sell it for less then !!! Dave
[QUOTE=Diesel_Brad;12069635]It would NOT be worth your fuel to tow it to the rust belt, unless you have a tractor trailer FULL of rust free parts[/QUOTE
It sure would be a shame to see a Nevada since new RUST FREE truck get sent to the crusher.... and being a 4X4 is even worse..it was an original 460 truck. It would make a nice winter in the shop project if I had the same truck ... but rusty !!! Dave
You could definitely sell it in the rust belt, but it'll have to be for a good price. I can't see it being worth the fuel unless you're already making the trip to haul something else back home that you want. I could use it (but don't have the money, sorry); I've got a spare 460 I could load into the beast and drive it.
Well I guess I should price it as picked up here near Las Vegas for someone who is coming to have some fun in Sin City !!! i guess I am just spoiled having never to deal with rusted everything. My DD 1990 needs paint but is solid as a rock even down to the exhaust system. My original plan was to switch the front clip to my 90 F250, but at 66 y/o and after a 3way by-pass I'm not as flexible as i once was. And some things are tougher to do in a gravel drive way.
I figured a rust free body, frame, and 4X4 suspension would give a favorite ride a new lease on life ... kinda like ordering a NEW used truck .... Just sayin Dave
Y'know its funny...we here in the Northeast can never find a rust-free body part-ever. People out West can never find decent interior parts due to sun damage. FWIW, I'd rather deal with the sun damage!

You are sooo right about the interiors. All things considered this truck has a better than average interior. The buckets and center consul went into an F350 CC a junk bench seat (work truck) that was just broken!!! The 92 f250 has a sun/moon roof installed by the P.O. and it needs work other than that, it's just fine Dave
I have no use for blue interior parts ... mine is tan and so was the doner F250 right now I need to recoup my investment ... being retired doesn't pay as well as advertised !!!
Dave
I was joking about how you said the western states truck interior is junk and how our body parts up here are junk
Fordka, The burned out interior parts is a real problem here in the west. In cars, the seat backs get killed in the sun quickly and the dash pads get canyons in them because of the sun... and here in the HOT desert it's even worse. Any desert southwest city has this problem ... here in the heat 100* + for 3 months takes is toll on tires too ... usually get "sun rot" in about 30 mo., even sooner if you park outside. I had to replace my 8ft bed because of a 2 y/o tire that lost 1/2 of its' tread @ 80MPH on the fwy. Older paint jobs normally die an early death too !!!
And, as far as RUST... I'm originally from Northeast Ohio ... I know rust personally nuff said !!! Dave
By the way Rodger T. Pipe posted the comment you referred to in post # 10 !!!
