Have a C6 on a 'project truck' which likes to creep forward in N and will not reverse. Drives fine in forward gears. Valve body issue suspected, though will likely follow up with more work. Have not yet checked line pressures.
Disassembly and cleaning of the valve body showed a different layout for the reverse check valve than what is shown in the Haynes tech manual and online. I have this (red arrow added to show location of difference): https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/m...dwagen-c6.html
It would seem that you might have a early model C6 in your truck, looks like there is no check ball in that location until 77. Its hard to see in your picture if you have the converter relief valve on the spring, I think it is but if not the extra ball will go there. Your valve body may have miss assembled by some one at one time.
Creeping or pulling forward in neutral is most likely caused by the forward clutch welded together, you wont have reverse because the forward drum cant release and it will bind with reverse. It will work fine forward.
Thanks for the feedback! Will reassemble things and get it to a spot where we can pull the C6 and do a proper rebuild. Would like to do up a proper build for towing with good internals, e-brake on the shift and additional aux cooling and temp gage.
