FTF is the brain-child of a bunch of people who couldn't stand the rules here at FTE.

Ken Payne who built FTE had major problems with them, and they all left in a huff.

At least, that is my recollection of events. I wasn't a moderator at the time, and even when I first became one in 2006, I had other priorities.

Just don't link back to their site, they don't need the free google ranking

FTF is like your small town IGA versus a large corporate powerhouse like Publix. Instead of being owned largely in part by a corporation, FTF is owned by a small group of individuals who had their own ideas of how a forum should be run.

They're both fine sites, with great member bases on both. Some people just don't like living in a big city, so they move out into the country to find peace and quiet.

FTF is a chit-chat site and thread hijackers delight.

Within a few posts, many of the threads are hijacked and peeps chit-chat back/forth typing mindless banter.

FTE was founded circa 1997, owned/operated by Ken Payne until he sold it to Internet Brands several years ago.

You don't come into FTE's 7th gen section much do you?

Plenty of to make the world go around 286 times.

'Generations' is a term FTF uses (IMO, it makes no sense because how in the heck can you define generations of Ford Trucks?).

No one else, including FoMoCo uses this term. So, what forum are you refering to here on FTE?

If it's the 1987/96 forum, I spend very little time, because I just don't have the time. And, since the parts are much more readily available, people can go to dealers/autoparts stores/repro parts sellers and get them.

Prior years, FoMoCo partsclucks are notorious for saying OBSOLETE the second the year is mentioned, whether the part is or not.

They don't wanna mess with it, so they just shine people on.

There are over 600,000 FTE members, 1 Ford partsguy (Ed was forced to retire from the biz and FTE after suffering a stroke). There are enough parts related questions in the 1986 and earlier forums to keep 5 partsguys busy.

I partsguy, 600,000 members. I cannot answer everyone's questions even if I spent 24 hours a day on FTE, instead of the usual 8-10 hours a day I do spend.

None of the "generations" were coined by FTF. Separating trucks by generation is widespread among many different internet forums. I will agree that in reality, it is impossible to segregate trucks into generations since there were so many changes between the so called "generations". Yet these generations were outlined up in the air, and after seeing them repeatedly on other forums (I'm a member of at least 7 other Ford forums), I've grown used to using them. The 61-66 trucks didn't gain the "slick sixties" monicker by themselves, neither did the 67-72 "Bumpsides", and the 73-79 "Dentsides". It all started because a few individuals were bored and decided Ford trucks needed nicknames, and to be outlined by "generations".

The forum subsection I was originally referring to is the 80-86 section, since a quick look at my sig reveals that I own a 1980, which would hopefully lead one to believe that is where I spend most of my time.
