Big al hit in on the head. My e99 the homemade way would not work. But after a lot of searching and help from my FTE brothers I did find a aux idle control wih wiring and mount for $100 on Craigslist.
If you ever get to the point of chipping, there are hi-idle programs taylored to your needs. I live way up North and I sometimes need a warm-up idle. My tuner bumps the idle RPM up and closes the Exhaust Back Pressure Valve to speed the warmup time on those crazy-cold mornings, and I use it for giving other vehicles a jump. Chipping is a big expense, so it's not for everybody.
