In my neck of the woods... the few that I have seen were priced at $1200 to $1500, usually as a set with the matching Sterling rear axle. Almost never find them for sale though, and in northern AZ 4x4 stuff is in high demand so those prices are probably a bit inflated...
Whats the advantage of a KP D60 vs. a ball joint one?
Strength. Kingpins can take a lot more abuse than ball joints, but both will fail if not greased properly. By fail I mean become sloppy. I ~have seen a broken ball joint on an F150 2WD... sheared post right off the ball. I have yet to see a sheared kingpin, and I doubt I ever will.
might be cheaper to buy the hole truck i done that a couple times
that's what i'm gonna do. it's a running driving f-350 with a good running 6.9 and a 4 spd. with a new clutch and water pump. i have a friend of mine that gives me good labor prices, he does side work in the evenings/weekends. for $350 he will swap out the kp 60 and put it in my 94 f-250 and put the ttd 50 back into the 85 that includes installing new u-joints,tie rods new k.p.'s if needed )on the d-60). of course that me buying all the parts he just supplies the laboe. i think he's nuts to do it that cheap, but i'm not gonna complain. i just have to determinr if my truck is worth doing all the work to it, core support is rusty, bed is starting to rust, cab corners etc.etc. i'd be better off getting a rust free truck, except my truck mechanically everything has been replaced. this really sucks determining what the better route to go is.
