The other day I rewired an old trailer and when I was done I hooked it up to my 2005 expy and couldnt get the rt signal/stop lamp to work. After checking everything on the trailer and hooking it up to another trailer that I KNOW is wired correctly I finally figured that the issue was coming from my truck/Expy.......the trailer connection on my rec/Expy isnt getting juice to two of the three functions
checked the grounds underneath and they seem fine.
What else do I need to check?
fuses?
Also I have been noticing that my Expy will not start after a very short time of either my light int/ext being left on or my Sat radio being left on for a short time...it never did that before...in fact I have left lights on all night and it started before.....had the battery checked and they said the battery is fine..doesnt need to be replaced
seemed like all this stuff started at the same time.....
Yep, check for a blown fuse. As far as the truck not starting, assuming that your charging system has been tested and is working properly, it's a bad battery regardless of the test result.

I get the part that it wont start, but, will the starter motor spin it over quickly, or does it just barely crank the motor, or does it just click?
update....went out tonight and checked all the fuses that had to do w/ the trailer functions and found the rt signal/stop fuse blown. Got excited and replaced the fuse. Now im getting juice w/ all functions at the receiver so i procede to hook it to my trailer. now both running lights dont work but the left signal/stop works. I go to try the right one and as soon as i flip the switch i hear the fuse blow. Replaced it then blew it again.
What do i need to check?
Im thinking something on my trailer is blowing the fuse on the right side...
I would recheck your wiring job and look for a compromised piece of wire or a bad connection, did you reuse the lights or get new? I would check those too.
yep Im happy that it seems it isnt an issue coming from the truck side..as im getting juice all the way to the 7 to 4 pin adapter on ALL functions so it has to be the trailer somewhere
the adapter that i use has the testing lights......thats how i knew I was getting good juice back to the receiver on all functions and it wasnt an issue w/ my Expy
