Whoops...got this in the older e series forum. Hopefully the mod's will delete the other post.
My 2003 E-350 was in an accident. It's a semi-floating axle. Was wondering, since the rear end assembly is to be replaced anyway, will a same model year full floater "bolt in" where the semi-floating axle was??
Thanks again all!
May my van ride again!

Reason: add vehicle info
Yes it will......... I have a fulll float in my 95.....only thing different is the E450/550 Dana 70 / 80 rear ends ...they are a little wider and spring perches are different
I literally just picked up my van after having this done. Mine is an '05 E350 with 3.73 non limited slip axle. Physically everything is fine. I do have an ABS issue of which I am going to start a new tread for. basically, the old axle had a abs sensor in the housing and the new axle had wheel sensors. Lucky the speed sensor is in the transmission with the torque shift. I am not that worried about ABS so may just disable the bulb but if possible I may try to drill and tap the axle housing and install the reference disk.
Well, today is the day. Body shop has the full floater on the floor, van on stands starting the swap! I can't stand the suspense!!!!!
I can't stand the suspense either! What was the result? Are you pleased? What was the donor vehicle? Did you have to have any modifications made to the axle to make it fit?
Well...the body shop installed it pretty quickly. Not sure what it actually came from seeing as they ordered the part. The mechanic said it was just a bolt up.
Here's a couple of photos of the van as it sits now.
The body is work finally done. The shop had some issues (injuries, sickness etc.) so we told them not to hurry, take their time. Today it's all done. Cleaned painted, fender installed. I do have the ABS light issue after the swap, need to do some research on that now. Next up is to re-install the adapters and the DRW.
