i am trying to reprogram my computer for different size tires to calibrate my speedometer.
every time i get to the end of the process, i click on done and after around 1 minute i get a fatal error report that AE has to shut down.
i have tried erasing AE and reloading it into my laptop, but it still does the same thing.
WELL, I JUST WENT OUT AND TRIED IT ON THE SECOND LAPTOP AND GOT THE SAME THING. THEN I REALIZED I STILL HAD THE TUNER TURNED ON. SO I SET IT BACK TO STOCK TUNE, BUT NO LUCK. WENT THROUGH THE WHOLE RESET PROCESS AND AT THE LAST SECOND GOT THE FATAL ERROR MESSAGE THAT AE HAD TO SHUT DOWN, AND ASKED IF I WANTED TO SEND A TROUBLE REPORT TO MICROSOFT.
went through the whole list. acquire vehicle, scan for codes, then switch from engine to abs, then select set tire size. click initiate,
set new size with the arrows and click done.
after about 1 minute it gives me the "windows has an error and needs to shut down would you like to send microsoft a trouble report"
I know nothing about AE (except the fact that I'm jealous of those that have it), but I'd be digging through the event viewer logs on the computer to see if there's something else going on.

I'm jealous too. And I agree. Dig into those logs. For example, Oracle has pushed out version 7 of java to the unsuspecting world. And I have found (I do computer tech support for a living) that it does not play well with certains applications, despite Oracle's assurances of backward compatibility.
I notice on AE's site they also mention some laptops that they have found that do not work well with their product. They also give directions for enabling debug logging. You might want to do that to see what it shows, and that would give you some handy info if you contact AE for assistance.
internal battery. and for the other stuff, i am lucky i know how to turn a computer on.let alone look for a "bugging log"?
i guess i will have to wait for one of the kids to come over and see what is wrong.
I hear this all day.. YET!... we supposedly hire people with some basic computer skills. Oh, well, another thread for another day. The directions AE have on their site under the FAQ's are pretty straight forward though.
I would be glad to talk/walk you thru setting it up if I am still not too 'junior' on these forums to get/send PM's.

i did not call yet, they are closed by the time i get home.
i did email them, and got back a computer generated response asking a crapload of questions, and all the answers to the questions were in my original email.
