Springs or Spacers?

About ready to level my 1986 F150 4x4 (302). Would like to know if there would be much difference in using spacers than leveling springs to do the job other than price?

If its a 4x4 isn't it more or less "level" already? If not, maybe your front springs are tired and sagging a bit...

Don't they all have some rake to them? I don't know but I would think taller coil springs would give you a bit more suspension travel.

Stock trucks have rake to them. I have had good luck pulling some F250 coils from the juckyard and running them. Firms up the ride a little and made my shortbed 150 sit dead level.

The main difference would be price. If you went the scavenger way it would be a stiffer ride. 2" spacers on ebay would go from 30-80 bucks. Springs could run up to and over 200. I have the same truck with a 300 6. Ill probably go with spacers myself.

I've used the polyurethane front spring spacers on two Broncos(1980 and 1985) and they worked fine.

I have an 86 f150 lariat 2wd extended- short bed.. I just want to throw a beefy tire. ive been looking at the spring spacers and coil. Here is the question will the coils/spacers mess up the camber and throw the alignment out? I just want to throw like a 31 or a 33 nothing huge just fill out the fender. Whats the biggest a stock 2wd will take? I say 31 and a 33 with leveling kit.

The 82 in my signature has 32" tall tires on the stock suspension.

your 82 and f150? I definetly think with coil spacers I can run 33s but I just want to make sure the spacers wont destroy the camber and ruin the tires. Ive heard they work just fine I just want to get a few opinions. lol

No. All the spacers do is push the front the body up. All the other mounting points stay where they are

So mine is an F250. Doesn't matter as it is 2wd standard cab longbed, and if it wasn't for 8 lugs, the same general front suspension as your F150.

Why do you want 33"s? Just for looks? So you can get lower mileage?

I went to a taller(still skinny) tire to help with mileage due to the gears in the axle.

Spacers on the springs without fixing the resultant camber changes will wear the tires bad.

If your front is sagging, and the camber is good, you'll probably have to add 2" drop axle pivot brackets with the spacers. You would have to add them(pivot brackets) if you put in new springs as well.Anytime you raise the front of an IFS suspension, even two inches, you'll alter the camber and should correct it as it wears the outer aspect of your tires.Plus it looks bad.
