I have a 1977 F150 2 wheel drive. I am looking for front leveling coil springs. I can't seem to find any though, does any know where I can find some. Will 4 wheel drive springs work, either stock height or leveling ones?
I'm not sure what you mean by leveling springs but I do know that 4 by springs won't work. The 2 by springs have a pig tail on the bottom and the 4 by springs are the same size at the bottom as the rest of the spring. You also have to watch out that by raising the frontend very much with the springs you will throw your camber out on the frontend. I have played around with the front springs on my 79 150 2 by that I use to go tough trucking at my local racetrack with, jumping it 6 feet in the air has a stange effect on the springs, smile. I tried 4 by springs and had to make homemade spring perchs for them and I would not do that on a street pickup, they worked till I broke one on an extra hard landing, I'm now using 1 ton springs out of an ambulance and I know the wheels would lean out at the top alot if the I beams were not bent as bad as they are. Good luck and sorry for long story. Greg NE
are you sure the springs in the truck now are not sagging.what about lowering the back to match the front.and no don`t use 4wd springs they will fit but not correctly,
greg ne,
what i mean by leveling springs, are springs that lift the front end of the truck 1 1/2 to 2" to make the truck sit level. Will these 1 ton spings do that, are they a swap in replacement? Do you know of any companies that make replacement springs? Thank-you for your help.
you could put 1 ton springs on it. and it should bring it up.you can buy these new thru napa.but the reason for the rear higher is because of the hauling a truck is made to do.but if ya get the 1 ton springs on it check your alinment.
I put F-250 springs on my 73 F-100 thinking it would raise it up but it didn't. It just made it ride rougher. I ended up making custom spring perches which raised it up about 2". I then had to get my a-arms bent to fix my alignment. I wouldn't recommend doing it with a 2wd. 4wd's easier.
