So my '97 cc f350 has stacked blocks in the back and I am assuming that the 4" blocks with the horns are the factory blocks. And there is an additional 2" block on top of that- the 2" blocks are cracked and I'm very concerned that they're gonna come apart on me... So here's the million dollar question, what's a good solution to get rid of the extra block? I don't want to install a new set and have the same problem, also I don't want to replace the front springs to match the newly lowered rear end once I pull the 2" blocks out...
My concern with buying a lift spring is that I'll sink hundreds of dollars in a set and they'll be way off on ride height. I'll take any ideas you've got, thanks guys
I'm assuming you must have a small lift on the front to make it sit level now? How many leaves are on the front? You're right, the 4 inch is factory on the 350, the 2 inch came on the 250. Stacked blocks is NEVER a good idea.
I'm trying to figure out what is going on. Maybe the springs were all worn out and the PO put an extra leaf on the front, and another block in the rear to raise it up? A little more info on what/how many leafs you have in the front and rear would help.
Give Alcan Spring a call. They can custom make you a set of springs for your application and the height you need/want.
I'd also recommend if you do get custom springs made to eliminate the blocks all together. Blocks are known to crack, even not stacked. They also increase your wheel hop since the springs are not directly on the axle.
Yeah the truck does have a 4 inch? Lift - it has 35's on it. I'd like to retain the factory block just to give it a little suspension travel in the rear since it already rides like a covered wagon. So basically I'm wondering if there's a simple 2" lift spring I can buy or if I'm gonna play the overload/extra leaf game. My goal is to eliminate the smaller block and get as close to stock ride as possible
I don't have much knowledge on what you are looking for, but I'm sure if you called around like to skyjacker or a good reputable company you will be able to get whatever you need/want. If I were you I'd look into getting rid of both blocks too since you are putting new springs on that aren't stock anyway. I don't think you will compromise your ride at all. I'd check that out with whomever you call. Tell them what you have and what you want, a good company will be able to help you.
I think that's what I'm gonna have to do, I called les Schwab since they lifted the truck originally and they were as helpful as a bag of hammers - and our local off road shop is a joke. Looks like I'm off to the spring manufacturers for more info.
This place was very helpful for me, I think they can help you out. I bought my 550 rears, bolts, and shackles from him. Fronts and ubolts I got locally.
I just typed this same thing in another thread, but figured I'd put it here if you don't see that one.
