The 1979 Indianapolis 500 Pace Car was a Mustang, the "official" service trucks were F150's.
Ford Dealers sold versions of each. Mustangs were somewhat common, the trucks far less so.
Dealers parts depts also offered Indy 500 sportswear, including a Pace Car jacket that was black with red piping, had a small (1/2" x 1/2") Mustang running horse logo attached to the zipper.
There were two versions of the jackets, one had the Mustang Indy 500 patch sewn on the upper left arm, another had the patch on the front.
There were several different hats and T-shirts available.

Pretty neat trucks. I've seen them, but I do live in Indiana. I actually know where one is sitting. But she's a rough one. I ever seen a truck on craigslist that had doors off of one. They do exist and I'd say they're pretty darn rare.
My truck has "Indy" stamped on the buck tag in the lower right hand corner and there are remnants of the original paint scheme under the crappy rattle can paint someone sprayed on at one point.
No it does not. Unfortunately the only thing original on the truck are the fenders and doors as someone swapped everything else over to an older model cab and box.
The interior has a similar color scheme as the outside; for instance the dash panel has an orange border. A similar theme is used for the seats and door panels. Every once in a while a door panel or dash bezel from a pace truck shows up on eBay; often times with the seller not knowing what it's from.
