what oil should i run
#2
If the motor is in good shape with good oil pressure a high quality 10W30 is a good choice. If the oil pressure is marginal a 20W50 or straight 50 weight might be more appropriate.
Don't use Fram filters, they're junk. Use Wix, Napa Gold, Motorcraft.
Whatever oil you use be sure that it contains OVER 1000 PPM of ZDDP. ZDDP (Zinc Dialkyl Dithiophosphate) is an extreme pressure additive that, because of the EPA, has been largely removed from most motor oils on the market today. This doesn't hurt modern engines with roller tappets but it can be a death sentence for the cam and lifters in an engine with flat tappets, thats all of our engines.
You can also get it in small bottles as an additive at most parts stores.

I have a link from another thread that asked this same question a few weeks ago. Hopefully you find this useful.
