I have a 2011 Lariet 5.0. I purchased in April 11 and had the exhaust dueled out. I only had the truck about 3 days before I had this done it it seems to be missing. I can be stopped and you can see the tach jump, I have since had the original put back on at Fords advice, they said that the exhaust caused the missing in the engine, i was told that it has leaks and this is what the problem is, i have had it checked andf no leaks, they said I need to replace the Cat B side as well as all new exhaust. Has anyone ever heard of the ehaust being replaced causing a miss or other engine problems? Note the exhaust was replaced behind the cats so they were not touched during the process. Thanks for any help on this.
That is what I thought but I am trying to do everything I can to ake sure they know it is not the exhaust but of course to replace the cat and pipes is around 1,000. They will not take responsibility for anything unless you do not pay your monthly bill and then it is for sure their responsibility to collect. I wil say Swope Ford has been excellent during all of this but Ford is the culprit.
I picked my '12 up at the end of Feb. I too have a weird miss at low RPM/Speed, just off idle. You can see the tach move, and feel it as well. I've had the truck back 3 times, 2 different dealers. One service manager drove it for a week, couldn't duplicate it. I know there is something wrong with it, but since there is no code, there is nothing they will do.
One service tech said it was normal, due to the variable valve timing. I call BS on that. If you find out what it is, let me know!
The ignition timing is retarded at start up. So if you are cranking it up and taking right off, you will notice it. It is done this way to heat up the cat to pass emissions standards. If you just let it run for a couple minutes then you will be right as rain.
That's great, but that's not when it is happening. I start it up, back it out of the garage, keep going about 40' down the driveway. All of this at a very slow speed. Everything is fine there. Put it in D, start moving, and the tach will jump a couple of hundred RPM. Not every time, but more than it should. It's enough that my passengers feel it too.
