Solid axle swap adds lift: True or False?

I got a 97 F350 Powerstroke parts truck to put the axles under my F250. I know the rear has taller blocks then my F250 but I just bought new front springs last year and would like to use them. The spring company said the code I gave them was for the heavy duty springs that F350s usually use but that's what my truck had for a code.

These should work fine with the solid axle and the F350 blocks in the rear correct? Does the way the leaf spring sit on the solid axle add some lift to the truck? Is that was does it?

It will sit slightly higher with the same springs on a live axle. I wouldn't thik it would be more than an inch or maybe two. All you would be doing is removing the built in sag of the TTB.

Thats the reason the F-350's are a bit taller than a similarly equipt F-250

The F350s have a bigger block then the F250 in the rear so it definitely sits a couple inches higher. I just wanted to make sure the new front springs will work fine.

My brand new springs sag with that TTB also. Does that system make them sag? Will the solid axle make them have a positive arch again?

No positive arch. They are pretty much straight springs when unloaded.
If you use the TTB springs on a solid axle it will ride very stiff. Try to get springs from a 350. They are thinner and will ride much better. The 250 springs are thicker because of the movements the TTB has to make.

I thought I read that somewhere, I guess Ill just use the springs out of the truck. But they are probably sagging some and I just bought mine if I use mine it will just ride really hard?

Do not use the TTB front springs on a solide D60! I tried it and it sucked. Unless you want to feel every pebble you run over and like getting thrown around in the cab. I tried it for 5 months or so, until I had time to put the F350 spings in the front. Rides so much better. The D60 and springs came out of a 91 F350 standard cab with 460 gasser. I also put some SD rear springs in the back prior to the swap. Rides pretty good.

Also if you have the parts F350 truck there, swap the pitman arm from the box. They are different from the 250 one and you end up with a wider turning radius with the 250 pitman arm. I bought a new 350 one and it is slightly longer and little different shape. You will probably be better swapping steering boxes because those pitman arms sometimes do not come off very well. I think I will need to cut mine off to do the swap, it wouldn't pull off.

I also have all brand new tie rods, tie rod ends, rotors and calipers on that dana 50 front. Is any of that reusable on the 60?

If your F250 is the 95 in your sig then you should be able to use the rotors and calipers.

If your going from a ball joint TTB to a ball joint d60 the brake stuff should swap. But not to a king pin axel.

My ball joints are brand new too... is it just worth pulling the whole spindle? Or are they different ball joints?

I cant agree with this more!!! I had a 4" lift spring on the front when I did my conversion. The solid axle only lifted the front about 3/4". It would bruise my ribs if I ran over a quarter at 25mph! HATED driving the truck. Switched to the two leaf from the donor 350 and installed the Sky RSK. Rides like a Cadillac now and sits level.

Did you swap the pitman arm from a 350 to the 250? They are different
